Family Fridays: Pegs in the Park!

I picked up Pegs in the Park at a yard sale last week for just $1 and it has fast become a family favorite.  According to the box it's recommended for ages 4-8, but my two year old can play with just a little help!
It's an excellent game for counting.  But, the thing I really love is that one round of the game takes about ten minutes, which is perfect for keeping the attention of my 5 year old.  She tends to loose focus on longer games and ends up in tears. This was definitely a dollar well spent!

Black Tears is a ten-year survey of one of Mexico’s leading artists, Betsabeé Romero.

Self-described as a “mechanic artist,” Romero draws on Pre-Columbian iconography, colonial imagery, and popular culture to transform automobiles and their components into contemporary works of art.
The artist’s refashioned cars, carved tires, painted hoods, and incised mirrors explore tensions between local traditions and industrialized societies dominated by speed, mass production, and emigration.

Wednesday Tip Day- Don't forget to visit regional blogs when you travel!

We've just returned from a visit to see family out in Arizona.  While it is nice to take a break from the frugal routine, we still want to find a way to stretch our dollars.  Some meals were taken with family and we made reservations at hotels that offered continental breakfast, but we knew there were still going to be a few/several times when we would need to eat out or have snacks on hand.  I first did a quick search of the names of the grocery stores at our first destination.  I then searched for a blog that covered those stores.  I found  Saving Cents with Sense.  After a quick browse of the best snack food deals at a single store, I took a look around the blog and found a great coupon for a Free Taco at Del Taco.  A quick visit to Del Taco's site revealed several restaurants in the areas we are visiting.  I also noticed that Del Taco offers a club with two free tacos for joining.  A stop at Restaurant.com landed me a discount gift card for another restaurant.
The lesson:  visit local blogs and sites to find regional deals when you are traveling.  They will likely lead you right into great savings!
