Myth or Fact: Premium-Grade Gas is Better

According to AAA the difference between grades of gasoline is octane.  An engine with a higher compression ratio needs more of that pricey octane.  Most engines don't need the extra octane, so skip it and save.

One of my past cars actually ran better on premium, so I'd treat it to that once in a blue moon. But my latest car could care less and does fine on regular. Thank goodness, as gas approaches five bucks a gallon. Geesh.
