Shopping totals week of 4/3-4/9

I've set a running total of $120 to last through April 30th.  I usually set a weekly budget but felt that it might work better to keep a monthly running tally, so that if I am over one week and under the next it equals out better. However, I am wondering if having those weekly limits keeps me on better task....I'll have to see how the rest of the month plays out.

Here's the week in pictures:

Shoprite: $18.72

Toys R Us :$4.23
Will submit for $5 Seventh Generation Rebate, but won't count it against my total until I receive the actual rebate!  We were out of toilet cleaner and bleach, so I was super happy to find this great deal!

CVS: $2.45
Walgreens: $1

Shoprite: $2.21
I had a $1 Cat and some bottle deposits that brought down my OOP!

Wednesday Tip Day----Stinky!

PHOTO CORTESY OF WWW.THESTONESOUP.COM

I just opened my May 2010 issue of "Family Circle" and right there on p15, I found a great tip.
Since it's fresh in my mind, it will work perfectly for today's tip!

Love fish, but hate the smell left after the meal.
Sprinkle a "bit" of cinnamon on a baking sheet and bake in a 250 degree oven for 10 minutes to get rid of the smell!

Have a kitchen tip to share, post it in the comments!

Shopping week 3/27-4/2----I REALLY DID IT!

You may remember that I set a goal  for the 5 weeks beginning 2/27 and ending 4/2 at an average of $25 per week.  I needed to stay under $17.71 in order to meet that goal and I did it!  I spent a grand total of $11.98. That means I ended the month $5.73 under budget.  I had planned to run out today and pick up a few odds and ends,  which would have put me closer to breaking even, but since that never happened I get to end the month a few dollars under!

Adams: $5.69
Shoprite: $0.00 (used a $5 CAT)

CVS: $1.28
Freihofer's Bread Outlet: $3

Shoprite: $2.01

Total= $11.98
Total Savings = $212.69
94% Savings!!!

I'm working on April's budget and thinking that rather than return to my normal $40/week budget, I am going to set a goal of $30/week.  I've also decided that since I rarely stay on target in any individual week, I will set this budget as a running total.  So, from 4/3-4/30 my budget is $120.
